Watson Lake
Situated in the Southeast corner of the Yukon, home to the famous Signpost
Forest and the incredible Northern Lights Space and Science Centre, Watson
Lake offers many ways to enjoy the outdoors. Watson Lake is the thrid
largest community in the Yukon and an important transoprtation centre.
Before the construction fo the Alaska highway, Watson Lake was a fish camp
and small airstrip.
In the winter months, the gentle slopes and
mixed aspen and coniferous forests can be explored by cross country skiing
or snowmobiling. You can also ski on Mt. Maichen and skate or ice fish at
local lakes. A new recreation centre complex provides bowling, squash,
and indoor ice skating. Best of all, watch how the spectacular Aurora
Borealis (Northern Lights) illuminate the black night sky.
Soothe
your soul and muscles at Liard Hot Springs on your way to Watson Lake.
Watch for birds in the heart of town as you stroll around Wye Lake, and
stop at Lucky Lake for a picnic and a ride on the waterslide.
